At the September 11, 2025 meeting of the Sayreville Economic & Redevelopment Agency (SERA), Executive Director Himanshu Shah provided updates on several key projects and initiatives advancing across the Borough.

Website & Digital Presence
SERA continues to make progress on its newly modernized website at www.seranj.gov, designed to improve transparency, enhance public access to redevelopment information, and strengthen communication with residents, businesses, and stakeholders.

In addition, development of SERA’s mobile application has been completed and will soon be available for download on both Apple and Android devices. The app will serve as an easy way for community members to stay informed about redevelopment projects and agency meetings.

Tovah Living Development
Plans are moving forward for Tovah Living, an age-restricted residential community proposed for the property adjacent to Gillette Towers on Main Street. Because the project requires amendments to the existing redevelopment plan, SERA’s attorney, planner, and engineer are collaborating closely with Tovah Living to review the proposed changes and identify practical, forward-looking solutions that align with community goals.

Redevelopment Planning Update
SERA’s Planner recently presented the Ernston Road Mini Mall Area Study, which was reviewed by the Planning Board and recommended for designation as an Area in Need of Redevelopment and Rehabilitation. The Borough Council has approved the designation and authorized SERA to prepare a formal redevelopment plan for the area.

These efforts reflect SERA’s ongoing commitment to thoughtful planning, strategic investment, and sustainable growth throughout Sayreville.
